This route brings together history, unusual nature, Armenian winemaking and medieval architecture.
In a single day you will see the famous Khor Virap at the foot of Ararat, walk among the unusual rocks of Angels' Canyon, discover Armenia's wine traditions, and visit Noravank Monastery among the red cliffs of Vayots Dzor.
The first stop will be Khor Virap Monastery — one of the most iconic sites in Armenia.
According to church tradition, it was here that Gregory the Illuminator spent about 13 years in a deep dungeon. After his release he played a key role in Armenia's adoption of Christianity in the early 4th century.
Khor Virap lies right next to Mount Ararat. In clear weather it offers one of Armenia's most famous panoramic views — the monastery set against the majestic Ararat.
Next the route takes us to a completely different Armenia — Angels' Canyon.
The canyon lies near the town of Vedi, close to the village of Dashtakar. It is a small natural gorge known for its unusual yellow-red rocks and whimsical landforms.
There are no monumental buildings or ancient temples here — the main attraction was created by nature itself.
During the walk you can see oddly shaped rock formations, enjoy open landscapes, and take photos in one of the most unusual natural spots in the Ararat region.
After the walk we continue toward Vayots Dzor — one of Armenia's main winemaking regions.

During the winery visit you will learn about the wine-making process, discover more about Armenian winemaking traditions, and taste local wines.
The final historic point of the journey will be Noravank Monastery.
The monastic complex sits among the impressive red cliffs of the Amaghu river gorge and dates mainly from the 13th–14th centuries.
Noravank is closely linked to the princely Orbelian dynasty and to the name of the outstanding medieval architect, sculptor and master Momik.
Especially famous is the two-storey Surb Astvatsatsin Church, built in the 14th century. Its unusual architecture and narrow outer staircase have made the temple one of the most recognizable monuments of medieval Armenia.
Noravank among the red cliffs of Vayots Dzor makes for a beautiful finale to a journey that brings together Ararat, unusual nature, Armenian wine, and centuries of history — all in a single day.

Meeting point and time
Meeting point: 51 Mesrop Mashtots Avenue, Yerevan, at the lower side of the Matenadaran, next to the Bus Voyage stop, where Koryun Street meets Mashtots Avenue.
Please arrive 10 to 15 minutes before departure so you have time to find the vehicle and take your seat. The excursion leaves on schedule.

Meals
Lunch is not included in the price. Time is set aside for a meal during the tour, and your guide will suggest a suitable place to fit the programme and the timing.

Visiting churches and monasteries
The excursion visits working religious sites, so we ask you to dress respectfully and to follow the rules of conduct.
Clothing that covers the shoulders and knees is recommended. Please keep quiet inside the churches and bear in mind that services, weddings and other ceremonies may be taking place during your visit.
