Jeep Tour: Tezhler — Through the Wild Mountains of Lori

"Tezhler — Through the Wild Mountains of Lori" is a journey into one of the greenest and most mountainous parts of Armenia, where the paved road gives way to off-road tracks, forests and open highland spaces.

The main part of the program takes place in off-road vehicles. We climb into the area of Mount Tezhler, stop at natural panoramic viewpoints, and discover Northern Armenia from a completely different side.

We set out from Yerevan toward the northern mountain regions of Armenia.

As we go, the landscape changes: more forests, mountain valleys and open green spaces appear.

Near Margahovit, the adventurous part of our journey begins.

We switch to 4x4 off-road vehicles and head along mountain roads toward Tezhler.

The asphalt is left behind.

The route runs through forested and open mountain terrain. Depending on the season, we may encounter dirt roads, rocks, small water crossings and genuine off-road conditions.

Along the way we stop at the most beautiful accessible panoramic viewpoints.

The main natural highlight of the journey is Mount Tezhler, one of the notable peaks of the Pambak Range.

Tezhler's height exceeds 3,000 meters above sea level.

But our program is not a classic, many-hour ascent to the summit.

The group covers most of the mountain distance in off-road vehicles, which lets us see highland landscapes without a long, demanding trek.

As we climb, wide views open up over the Pambak Range, forested slopes, valleys and surrounding peaks.

In good weather, the scale of Armenia's northern mountains is especially striking here.

Time is set aside for a walk, rest and photographs.

The route isn't tied to a single point — the road through the mountains itself is an important part of this journey.

After the mountain part of the route, we get acquainted with another fascinating historical site — Tezharuyk Monastery.

This medieval monastic complex sits amid mountain nature and dates back to monuments of the 12th–13th centuries.

The main church was built in the 13th century and has preserved the characteristic features of medieval Armenian architecture.

After the active jeep portion, Tezharuyk becomes a peaceful historical close to our journey.

After visiting the monastery, we head back to Yerevan.

In a single day, the route brings together completely different experiences: mountain off-roading, forests, highland spaces, panoramic viewpoints and medieval architecture.

"Tezhler — Through the Wild Mountains of Lori" suits lovers of nature, mountains, off-road travel and places far from mass tourist routes.

No special mountaineering training is required.

That said, you should be ready for mountain off-roading, changeable weather and short walks over natural terrain.

This is Northern Armenia without the usual tourist roads — forests, mountains, jeeps and real open space.
