To the Summit of Azhdahak Volcano

"To the Summit of Azhdahak Volcano" is a real mountain adventure for those who want to step off the classic tourist routes and see a completely different Armenia.
Our destination is Azhdahak, an extinct volcano and the highest point of the Gegham Range. Its summit stands at an altitude of about 3,597 meters above sea level.
Most of the route is covered by off-road vehicles across high-mountain terrain.
As you climb, the familiar landscapes fall away. The road crosses the open expanses of the Gegham Mountains, volcanic terrain and nearly untouched nature.
There are no towns or usual tourist infrastructure here — only mountains, open space, and a road that becomes part of the journey itself.
After the jeep portion, a walk of about 2 km begins.
This is a high-altitude stretch of the route, so even a relatively short distance feels different from an ordinary walk: the altitude, rocky surface and changes in terrain call for comfortable footwear and reasonable physical fitness.
The main reward is the scenery of Azhdahak.
In the crater of the extinct volcano lies a small high-mountain lake, which has become one of the summit's most recognizable features.
In clear weather, sweeping panoramas of the Gegham Range and surrounding mountains open up from the summit.
This is a completely different Armenia here — rugged, high-altitude and almost untouched by civilization.
People don't come to Azhdahak just for a photo.
Jeeps, off-road terrain, a mountain hike, a volcanic crater, a high-altitude lake and an altitude of nearly 3,600 meters — all of it comes together into one big adventure.
Who this tour suits
This route suits lovers of mountains, active recreation, off-road travel and wild nature.
The tour includes a walk of about 2 km over high-altitude, sometimes uneven terrain, so participants should take their physical fitness into account.
The route runs at considerable altitude, where the weather can change quickly and the temperature, even in summer, can be significantly lower than in Yerevan.
The trip to Azhdahak depends on weather and road conditions. The group's safety always remains the priority, so in unfavorable conditions the route or the highest accessible point may be adjusted.
This journey is for those who want to see Armenia above the usual roads — among volcanoes, clouds and true high-mountain landscapes.
