"Dawn on Khustup" is an unusual overnight journey to the south of Armenia, created for those who want to see the mountains of Syunik at one of the most beautiful moments of the day — at sunrise.
We leave Yerevan in the evening at 20:00 and head overnight toward Kapan.
The main goal of our journey is Mount Khustup, one of the most recognizable and majestic peaks of Syunik.
After the overnight drive, the most adventurous part of the route begins.
Jeep Tour to Khustup
We switch to off-road vehicles and continue along the mountain road.
The jeeps carry the group almost all the way to the final viewpoint, so this tour does not involve a lengthy multi-hour hike.
After the jeep section, there remains about 400–500 meters to walk over natural mountain terrain.
That is why this route suits active travelers who want to feel the atmosphere of real mountains without planning a difficult, lengthy climb.
Mount Khustup
Khustup is one of the natural symbols of Southern Armenia.
The mountain massif rises above the surroundings of Kapan and stands out for its powerful, rocky silhouette.
This place holds a special place not only in nature but also in Armenian history. The name of Garegin Nzhdeh is closely tied to Khustup.
However, on this journey the main value of Khustup is the mountain itself — its silence, scale, clean air and views of Syunik.
Sunrise Among the Mountains
We try to reach the viewpoint before sunrise.
In the darkness, the silhouettes of the surrounding mountains gradually begin to appear, the sky changes color, and the first rays of sun light up the peaks of Syunik.
This is the main moment of the journey.
Here there will be time to stop, greet the sunrise, take photographs, and simply enjoy the silence of the mountains.
No city bustle. No crowds. Just the mountains and the start of a new day.
After sunrise, time is set aside for a short rest and refreshments from Amaras Tour.
Return to Yerevan
After watching the sunrise and resting, we return by off-road vehicle, switch to the main transport, and head back to Yerevan.
The total duration of the journey is about 18–20 hours.
This is a long route, but most of the ascent is done by off-road vehicle, and the walking portion is only about 400–500 meters.
Who This Tour Is For
"Dawn on Khustup" is designed for active travelers who love mountains, nature, off-road trips and unusual routes.
You should be ready for an overnight drive, rough mountain terrain, cool weather before sunrise, and a short walk.
No special climbing training is required.
This journey begins in the evening in Yerevan, continues overnight along the roads of southern Armenia, and leads to the moment that makes the whole trip worthwhile — sunrise on Khustup.
